Everlake life insurance, reviewed.

Everlake Life Insurance Company is the former Allstate Life Insurance Company, renamed after Allstate sold it to investors managed by Blackstone in 2021. The bottom line for the families who hold these policies: your coverage did not change, the company behind it is financially solid, and the main question worth asking is whether the policy still fits your life today.

What Everlake is

A new name on a familiar policy.

Most Everlake policyholders never bought anything called Everlake. They bought an Allstate life policy years ago, and the company that issued it changed hands and changed names. Here is what stands behind that name now.

It is the former Allstate Life

Everlake Life Insurance Company is the renamed Allstate Life Insurance Company. Allstate completed the sale to entities managed by Blackstone on November 1, 2021, and the company took its new name.

Your coverage carried over as-is

The sale changed the name on the letterhead, not your contract. Everlake’s own transition materials say it plainly: coverage and premium remain the same.

Heritage back to 1957

Through the Allstate Life acquisition, Everlake traces its book of business back to 1957. These are seasoned policies on a seasoned block, not a startup experiment.

Backed by a major asset manager

Blackstone, one of the largest asset managers in the world, sits at the top of Everlake’s ownership chain and manages the investments behind the promises.

Solid financial footing

Everlake Life and Everlake Assurance carry AM Best financial-strength ratings in the agency’s upper tier, affirmed in 2026 with a stable outlook. Confirm the current grade for your exact issuing company at ambest.com.

A servicing operation, focused

Everlake’s job is taking care of the policies it already has. Day-to-day administration runs through Transaction Applications Group (TAG), an NTT DATA company, dedicated to existing policyholders.

From Allstate to Everlake

What actually happened, in three steps.

The short version: the company was sold, the name changed, and the paperwork moved to a new service desk. Nothing about your coverage terms moved with it (per Everlake):

2021 · The sale

Allstate Life is sold

Allstate completed the sale of Allstate Life Insurance Company to entities managed by Blackstone on November 1, 2021, and the insurer was renamed Everlake Life. The New York company went separately to Wilton Re.

2023 to 2025 · Servicing

Administration moves to TAG

Starting in April 2023, policy servicing shifted in stages from Allstate to Transaction Applications Group (TAG), an NTT DATA company. Everlake’s site notes the remaining products completed the move as well.

Today · Your policy

Same contract, new servicer

Your coverage amount, guarantees, and premium are the same ones printed in your original contract. What changed is the name on your statement and where the service calls go.

What it means for you

Three sensible paths from here.

Everlake is not competing for new customers, so this is not a review you read to decide where to buy. It is a review you read because you already own the policy. That puts you in one of three positions, and all three are good ones.

Path one

Keep what you have

Often the right call. Allstate-era policies can carry interest guarantees and pricing from a different era, the kind that would cost far more to replace at your current age. If the review shows the policy is doing its job, keep it.

Path two

Tune what you have

A beneficiary update, a loan repayment plan, or a premium-mode change can fix most of what owners call about. Those are service requests, not replacements, and they cost nothing but a phone call.

Path three

Add coverage elsewhere

If your family has outgrown the old policy, the extra coverage comes from carriers actively writing new business. Keep the Everlake policy working and shop the addition on the open market.

Not sure which path is yours? That is exactly what a free policy review settles. And if the day-to-day questions are the real itch (billing, forms, who to call), our Everlake policy help guide covers the service side step by step.

Who this is for

Owners, more than shoppers.

If you hold a former Allstate life policy, Everlake is simply the company keeping that promise now, with upper-tier financial strength behind it. The name change is not a reason to act. What is worth acting on is the ordinary stuff: a beneficiary who needs updating, a policy nobody has read in fifteen years, coverage that no longer matches the mortgage.

If you are shopping for brand-new coverage, Everlake is not writing it, so start with our roundup of the best life insurance companies instead. And for the full story of what Allstate offers today, our Allstate life insurance review picks up where this one leaves off.

A renamed insurer is still bound by every word of the original contract. The policies that worry me are not the renamed ones; they are the unread ones.

01Is Everlake Life Insurance a legitimate company?

Yes. Everlake Life Insurance Company is a real, state-regulated insurer based in Northbrook, Illinois. It is the renamed Allstate Life Insurance Company, which has been issuing coverage since 1957. The name changed in 2021; the legal entity and its obligations to policyholders did not.

02What happened to Allstate life insurance?

Allstate sold its life insurance business. On November 1, 2021, Allstate completed the sale of Allstate Life Insurance Company to entities managed by Blackstone, and the company was renamed Everlake Life Insurance Company. Allstate’s New York life company went separately to Wilton Re.

03Why does my Allstate life policy say Everlake now?

Because the company that issued your policy was renamed. Allstate Life Insurance Company became Everlake Life Insurance Company after the 2021 sale. It is the same insurer with a new name and new owners, and Everlake’s transition materials confirm that your coverage and premium remain the same.

04Who owns Everlake Life Insurance?

Everlake Life is ultimately owned by Everlake Holdings, LP, and Blackstone Inc. is the ultimate parent of the vehicle that manages it. In plain terms, investors managed by Blackstone bought the former Allstate Life business in 2021 and run it under the Everlake name.

05Who services my Everlake policy now?

Transaction Applications Group, Inc. (TAG), a subsidiary of NTT DATA, handles policy administration for Everlake. Servicing moved from Allstate in stages starting in April 2023, and Everlake’s site notes the remaining products migrated to TAG as well. Use the number on your latest statement or everlakelife.com to reach service.

06Can I buy a new life insurance policy from Everlake?

Everlake’s business today centers on serving the policies it already holds, not marketing new coverage to the public. If you are shopping for a new policy, you would compare carriers that are actively writing new business, which a licensed professional can do with you in a free policy review.

07What if my Allstate policy was issued in New York?

Allstate Life Insurance Company of New York was sold separately to Wilton Re, so New York policies follow a different path than the Everlake block. Your statement shows exactly which company holds your policy now, and we can help you read it if the names have you second-guessing.

08What is Everlake’s financial strength rating?

Everlake Life Insurance Company and Everlake Assurance Company carry AM Best financial-strength ratings that sit in the agency’s upper tier for paying claims, affirmed in 2026 with a stable outlook. Ratings can change, so confirm the current grade for the exact issuing company at ambest.com before you decide anything.

09Should I cancel or replace my Everlake policy?

Not because of the name change, no. Older Allstate-era policies often carry guarantees and pricing that would be hard to buy again at your current age. The smart move is a review first: see what the policy actually guarantees, then decide. Keeping what you have is often the right answer, and we will say so when it is.

10How do I file a claim or update a beneficiary with Everlake?

Contact Everlake’s policy service through the number on your statement or through everlakelife.com, and they will send the forms. If you would like a second set of eyes first, a licensed professional on our team can walk through the paperwork with you at no charge.
